CS 102 Class Recordings

This is a list of CS 102 classroom session recordings, stored as .avi (video) files, which should be playable on most media players. These recordings are being offered on an experimental basis. Should you need it there is a free download of a straightforward small footprint (161KB) .avi player from Camtasia.

The size of each of these files is in the range 160 - 210 MB, and they are all .avi files. The on campus download time should be 6-10 minutes, and with a broadband connection the off-campus download time will likely be 10 - 17 minutes.

Arrays, Simple Sorting & Searching, Recursion
10/3/2005 Review of 1st midterm key, Starting on Arrays
10/5/2005 More on Arrays: motivation, Date class examples
10/19/2005 Program 3 Description, Sorting (Bubblesort), 2d arrays stored row-major, Recursion
10/24/2005 Program 3 Description, More recursion examples, factorial
10/26/2005 Recursion examples

The recordings were captured using a tablet PC and an inexpensive headset mic, using Camtasia software.
The capture itself is fairly straightforward. After the lecture, rendering a 50 minute lecture to a 175 MB .avi file takes about 10 minutes using the default settings in Camtasia. Rendering the videos to other formats (RealPlayer, QuickTime) takes substantially longer.
