What I believe

Since you "asked," here is what I believe:
My experience is that it is possible to know God in a personal way. This isn't a "religious" thing, but rather a relationship with the historical person of Jesus. You may be interested in a brief outline of how the Bible says you can have this kind of relationship. You can also check out the online Bible, or see this site that is sort of a FAQ for students with questions.

If you are curious about this, I would be happy to talk to you (No charge, and no pressure). For those of you (particularly my students) who are not Christians but are of different faiths, I respect your choices for yourself, however I do believe in the exclusivity claims of Christ. In this urban setting of Chicago, there are at times groups that appear to be Christian on the surface, but have a twisted agenda underneath. See this site for a starting point to check out different groups, and do your homework before jumping in!

I'm currently active in Grace Covenant Church in Chicago, where I play guitar in one of the bands. This is a church for people who don't necessarily have a religious background but are interested in checking out the radical things that Jesus said and how they apply to us today. If you want to visit sometime, we meet on Sunday morning at 10:00, at the corner of Berteau and Monticello, which is just northwest of the intersection of Kimball and Irving Park. Dress is pretty casual, so don't dress up unless you want people to know you're a visitor.

At the end of my life I would like to look back and see a monument built not in stone, but in the lives of those I've affected.
